A native of Frisco, Texas, Dr. Tavia brings a lifelong background in movement, performance, and competitive gymnastics to her work as a physical therapist. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from Centenary College of Louisiana, where she competed on the gymnastics team for all four years. During her time at Centenary, Dr. Tavia was a first-team USAG All-American in the All-Around, served as team captain, and graduated summa cum laude.
Dr. Tavia earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman’s University in Dallas while continuing to stay closely connected to the gymnastics community. She became a certified gymnastics judge and served as a beat writer for College Gym News, giving her a unique perspective on both the athletic and performance sides of the sport.
Since graduating, Dr. Tavia has continued to work with gymnasts and dancers. Her own experience as a gymnast gives her an appreciation for the physical demands, precision, repetition, and mental resilience required of high-level performers.
Dr. Tavia is especially interested in the intersection of physical therapy and performance, helping athletes build the strength, mobility, control, and confidence they need not only to recover from injury but also to perform at their best. With her gymnastics background and love of musical theater, she understands the unique demands of performers across disciplines—from the gym floor to the dance studio and stage.
